Shitan is a beautiful agricultural township. In spring and summer, Tung blossoms cover mountains like snow. Autumn and winter leaves turn forests into colorful places of yellow and red. Because Shitan is less explored compared to nearby townships, its air is fresh and its views are breathtaking. This is a perfect place to rest and have fun.
The Yungheshan Reservoir is the first natural reservoir without a sluice. It also boasts magnificent views and 27 Earth God statues worshipped in a small temple.
Before entering Sanshan National Scenic Area, Shei-pa National Scenic Area and Taian Scenic Area, one must pass by Sanwan Township. This is a place where mountains are many and farmlands are few. Under such challenging circumstances, however, Hakka people managed to establish their villages here. Sanwan is also famous for its diversified natural resources.
Nanzhuang Township, inhabited by Ayatal, Saisiyat and Hakka people, is nicknamed the “Paradise on Earth in Miaoli.” Today it serves as a major tourist town that offers the best agricultural products, cultural tours and sightseeing activities. Guest houses and restaurants are many, too.
