Depending on their rich natural resources, Zhunan and Houlong provide not only the charm of fishing port, but a broad pasture where visitors can get to know the beauty of our Mother Earth. This route combining historic spots, humanity, and art is definitely worth visiting.
Zhunan is the northernmost township in Miaoli. It is worth a visit for its breathtaking scenery, precious mangroves and double-branded crows (butterflies). Every April and May, as many as 100,000 double-branded crows gather in Zhunan’s seaside windbreak forests, which is breathtaking to see.
Houlong Township has many beautiful beaches and a tourist-commercial fishing port. This is where the annual Miaoli Ocean Festival is held. Most visitors come here to watch the sunset in characterized cafes, play kites at the port or savor fresh seafood in local restaurants.
