Miaoli's Slow Fish Coast Goes Global: County Government Showcases "Slow Fish Stone Weir Board Game Treasure Box" at Terra Madre Salone del Gusto

Release date:2024-09-30Number of Readers:109

From September 26 to 30, the Miaoli County Government participated in the "2024 Terra Madre Salone del Gusto" in Turin, Italy, organized by Slow Food International.

The delegation made a special visit to Andrea Amato, Regional Director of the Slow Food Foundation, to discuss potential future collaborations on slow food initiatives. In addition, the County Government held a workshop with Chiara Palandri, head of the Slow Fish Network under the Slow Food Foundation, to exchange views on slow fish policies and share the unique features of Miaoli's coastline and community development efforts.

The County Government introduced the five key pillars of Miaoli's slow fish initiative: Blue Ocean, Traditional Fishing Methods, Corporate Alliance, Blue Tourism, and Blue Education. These will serve as the theme for Miaoli's participation next year.

At the event, the County Government showcased the "Miaoli Slow Fish Stone Weir Board Game Treasure Box," using the board game format to promote Miaoli's intangible cultural heritage—stone weirs. This initiative aligns with Slow Food International's advocacy for sustainable fisheries and attracted participation from numerous international slow food and slow fish partners, helping to introduce Miaoli's unique charm to a global audience.
