Release date:2020-05-01Number of Readers:787

As an internationally certified Cittaslow county, Miaoli boasts the largest number of small towns and Hakka villages, the five most popular hiking trails voted by the public, and the most beautiful highway in Taiwan.

Every year, from April to May, visitors can watch blooming Tung flowers in Miaoli’s 18 counties and townships. At night, they can watch fireflies and go hiking in conservation areas such as Shuangtan of Sanyi, West Lake Resortopia, Lixiping of Zhuolan, Spring Creek B&B, Ginger Garden and Manapang of Dahu, Dawo, Nanjiang of Nanzhuang, Fuxing Nanhe Leisure Farm of Tongxiao, Firefly Farm, Lixiang Leisure Farm of Sanwan, and CMP Village of Zaoqiao.

Sanyi’s old mountain railways pass through Taiwan’s most beautiful forests. Sanyi Train Station which is the highest-altitude station in Taiwan and the impressive Yutengping Bridge are both worth some appreciation. The evening trains which became available on May 1 provide visitors with dreamlike journeys. Miaoli is conveniently located and it is the best when it comes to getting close to nature.

County magistrate Hsu Yao-chang noted that visitor control is currently in place at all of Miaoli’s popular tourist attractions, such as national parks and leisure areas. At the parking lots of Wenshui Visitor Center and Shueichien Leisure Area in Shei-pa National Park, when more than 50% of the spaces are filled, no more vehicles are allowed. At Shitoushan Scenic Area and Nanzhuang Visitor Center, visitor and traffic control/diversion is also in place. What’s more, posters with disease-control slogans are posted. When entering a place, visitors are required to wear masks and have their body temperature checked. The Administration kindly reminds all to wash their hands frequently and carry out personal disease-prevention measures. Keep a social distance of 1 meter outdoor and 1.5 meters indoor. When a scenic spot or any business venue performs visitor control, please follow staff members’ instructions. Let’s fight against COVID-19 together!
