The No. 2 Warehouse at Zhunan Railway Station, known as the "Miaoli Cultural and Creative Park," has been approved by the Miaoli County Government to be registered as a historical building following a formal review of tangible cultural assets. This well-preserved warehouse will be transformed into the county's second youth entrepreneurship base in collaboration with the county government. The county government emphasizes that registering Zhunan Station's No. 2 Warehouse as a historical building is highly significant for the preservation and revitalization of cultural assets in Miaoli County.
Miaoli County's Culture and Tourism Bureau stated that on July 10, the county government held a review meeting for monuments, historical buildings, memorial buildings, and architectural residences. During the meeting, the "No. 2 Warehouse at Zhunan Railway Station," located at 168-1 Zhongshan Road, Zhunan Township, was approved. The warehouse, built as a freight facility after World War II by the Railway Bureau using construction methods and materials from the Japanese colonial period, retains valuable architectural features such as roof trusses, pilasters, corner bracings, and hardware components that reflect its historical significance.
To encourage young people to return to their hometowns and start businesses, in 2021, the county government and returning young entrepreneurs transformed the old No. 2 Warehouse next to Zhunan Station into the "Zhongshan 168 Youth Entrepreneurship Base" and held a grand opening ceremony. Five female artists and cultural and creative entrepreneurs from various fields have moved in, jointly launching special exhibitions such as the "Worry-Relief Watch Shop," breathing new life into the old warehouse with distinctive cultural and creative projects. Zhongshan 168 is the second youth entrepreneurship base established by the county government in collaboration with local youth, following "Shengxing 365."
The Director of the Culture and Tourism Bureau stated that there are currently 101 tangible cultural assets designated and registered in the county, including 1 national monument, 17 county-designated monuments, 62 historical buildings, 4 cultural landscapes, 1 historical site, and 16 general antiquities. Cultural assets are resources shared by all county residents, and through diverse revitalization methods, these assets will serve as a communication platform between different sectors, continuously promoting and extending the essence of historical culture.
