Savoring watermelon in the heat of summer is one of life’s greatest pleasures. As one of Miaoli’s main watermelon-producing regions, Houlong Township is currently in peak harvest season. On the afternoon of June 7, the Houlong Township Office hosted the 2025 Houlong Watermelon Festival under the theme “Here Come the Dinosaurs for Watermelons!”, creating a joyful atmosphere centered on family and cultural activities to promote the high-quality watermelons of Houlong to visiting tourists.
Free watermelon was distributed on site for the public to enjoy, alongside a lineup of musical performances, educational outreach, and interactive games. Visitors were treated to the refreshing taste of watermelon while enjoying vibrant stage performances. The evening featured a main show by the troupe “FervorTaiwan,” presenting an imaginative live performance titled “Wukong vs. Dinosaur Circus.” This spectacular show promised to wow local families with stunning visuals and surprises. The venue also included a farmers’ market showcasing agricultural specialties from Houlong Township. The event aimed to raise the township’s profile and boost coastal tourism during the summer season.
