THSR Miaoli Station was officially opened in December 1, 2015 and has a simple exterior appearance, representing the simple and unadorned spirit of the Hakka people. Its simple geometric metal frames portray the simple three-dimensional style of the building. It also simulates the sunlight angle of Houlong, Miaoli, which opens and closes its windows according to the weather to resonate the evergreen ecological image inside and outside the station.
The horizontal station design is a metaphor to the velocity of high speed rail. The building was constructed with modular, pre-casted, lightweight construction methods along with local construction materials. It also uses energy-saving facilities such as metal sun visors and solar panels for it to become an eco-friendly green building and achieve the standard of “diamond-level” green building.
