At 500-800 meters above the sea level, at Guandaoshan Ridge of Dahu Townshi, Miaoli County, “Jiang Ma Yuan” used to be a famous ginger plantation in the Qing Dynasty. The soil and weather conditions here are ideal for growing ginger, and the farmers here were not only hardworking but also experts in growing the plant. For a long time, both the government and the locals called the place “Jiang Ma Yuan.”
Today, Ginger Garden (that is, “Jiang Ma Yuan” in Mandarin) not only produces ginger all year round. It also produces strawberries, peaches, plums, grafted pears, persimmons, tangerines, and bamboo shoots.
