The Miaoli County Slow Fish Movement enters its fourth year in 2022. In the past, the county government promoted Nanzhuang and Sanyi as "International Double Slow Cities," encouraging the enjoyment of slow food and slow travel. In recent years, the government has focused on developing coastal tourism and promoted the Slow Fish Movement in the villages and towns along the coast as part of a broader effort to expand the concept of slow food and slow living from double slow cities to the Miaoli coast.
The Culture and Tourism Bureau noted that in early August, the county government invited Xu Gonglian, Director of the Taiwan Office of the "Slow Food International", to attend a meeting to discuss new way of thinking in the post-epidemic era. The topics of "regeneration" and "food" were used to share changes in farming methods and transportation systems, while reflecting on food consumption. The Slow Fish website will also gradually offer "bilingual" services to expand its international presence, and aims to take part in the International Slow Food Annual Conference go in Genoa, Italy in 2023, where it looks forward to demonstrating the featured culture and achievements of the Miaoli Slow Fish Movement.
