At Jiuhu Plateau, temperature can drop drastically at night and the place is rather humid. Its red acid soil is ideal for growing chrysanthemum. Thus, in the 1960s, chrysanthemum plantation was much promoted in Tongluo. The area of plantation was once up to 60 hectares of land, and production was the most throughout Taiwan. Tongluo was hailed as the home of chrysanthemum. Chrysanthemum flowers can be used in many different ways. Other than making traditional flower tea, chrysanthemum can be included in a table dish.
