As Taiwan’s only county with two certifications from Cittaslow International, Miaoli now promotes the Slow Fish Movement with three other townships, Zhunan, Houlong, Tongxiao, and Yuanli.
From learning about fish, eating locally caught seasonal fish, to telling stories of fish, people are encouraged to develop eco-friendly mindsets and thrive with oceans. The Miaoli County Government hopes to boost fishery tourism through activities such as coastal tours, and make the place “a town of slow fish” in Taiwan.
Other recommended scenic spots are: Tongxiao Shrine, Xin Diao Residence, Rush Grass Culture Center, Wang Chih-hsin Fish Balls, Old Street Hair Salon, and Dragon Garden Restaurant.
