Formed as a shape of mountain, Xiangtian Lake has a long-lasting legend. It is said that hundreds of years ago, the bottom part of this basin was a lake through which many people glanced the view of the sky.
Therefore, it was called "Xiangtian Lake." At 738 meters above the sea level, Xiantian Lake is well-known for its foggy ambient during winter and spring. Moreover, Pasta-ai, a ritual of the Saisiyat, aboriginal people of Taiwan, is also held here in a way of small rite every two years and big rite every ten years.
