2021 is the Year of Bicycle Tourism, and the minister of transport and communications Lin Chia-lung on November 29 explored Miaoli County on a bike from Dashan Train Station to Houlong Train Station.
Miaoli’s 68.5km-long Coastal Forest Bicycle Path is easy to ride on and along the path is a diversified plant ecology. The coastal views are beautiful and it is suitable for visitors wishing to appreciate Miaoli deeply.
The county government also promotes “bicycle/train” tours, meaning that it encourages people to take a train to a certain town, and then ride a bike to explore the town. The railway administration will continue to renew station facilities and run more trains which allow passengers to take their bicycles with them. The bicycles may be carried in bags, with passengers, or transported alone. Hopefully this will make the bicycle/train tours more convenient for all.
